“After The Fire”, “The Longest Night”, “Be Gone”, “Ten Years” and “Bury The Light”, albums ranging from great to brilliant. This is a chat I had with PHARAOHs guitarist Matt Johnsen when they put out “Bury The Light” earlier this year. A bit old as you understand, but Matts answers are simply too interesting to not make this available in English. First Matt, you have signed a new contract with Cruz Del Sur for another three albums. Personally I thought that “Ten Years” was to be your last for them, as this was the kind of release that bands often close a chapter with. Did you consider other options, or was it an easy decision to continue working with Enrico? Continue reading
DEW-SCENTED “I for intense”
After a couple of short ones, it’s time for a longer interview. Long serving German thrashers DEW-SCENTED is back with a brand new album called “Icarus”. As usual you get lots of killer riffs and the devastating vocals of mr. Leif Jensen. Of course, Leif is also the one answering our questions. Did you record any additional material apart from the songs that ended on “Icarus”? Continue reading
SHORT AS HELL IV: Gypsyhawk
Edit: At first I only published the answers from guitarist Andrew Packer, but while I was browsing through my mailbox, I found out that vocalist/bassist Eric Harris also answered the same questions.
SHORT AS HELL III: Ethereal Architect

I kind of enjoyed “Dissension” the debut from US progressive metal band ETHEREAL ARCHITECT, but I honestly didn’t expect the band to go on and release something as good as “Monolith”. So far album of the year for me, and the only album I have awarded a perfect 6/6 in Scream Magazine this year. Continue reading
SHORT AS HELL II: Evocation
Even though I enjoyed the latest offerings by Swedish bands like Degial and Necrovation, I am not the biggest death metal fan around. Neither do I have the same knowledge of the genre as I have of those that I will mainly feature in this blog. Continue reading
SHORT AS HELL I: Gothic Knights
In addition to the more in depth ones, I will also post some shorter interviews which were printed on the news pages of Scream. Here is a little chat I had with John Tsantiz, original member and guitarist of GOTHIC KNIGHTS. Continue reading
